Papa and Grandma arrived today! We were all very excitedly waiting for the, watching out the window down the street for their taxi to arrive.
They were tired, but excited, and we had to keep telling the kids not to swarm them!
After they freshened up for a bit, we went for a small walk to the Santa Croce Piazza, then to the river, and back up near us to the most amazing sandwich shop we discovered a few days ago for lunch. So good.
Then we did a big loop through the Piazza della signoria, the Piazza del Repubblica, over to the Duomo with a quick peek inside, stopped for gelato at Grom (so far, the best...Luigi our driver was right!) (I had to take the twins to the bathroom at the restaurant next door and Grom was swarmed right after everyone else went in with a class of school kids, so Chris ordered for me, but I want to go back and try the salted caramel!)
We came back to the apartment and John and Dianne both needed a nap. That first day is so hard!
We decided that we weren't really up for going out to dinner, so Chris and John ran down the street and picked up some pizzas for the kids, and the grown-ups had some heavenly antipasti that we had picked up earlier on our walk at the fancy-schmancy grocery store Pegna.
Chris leaves in the morning to go to Malta for a few days. :(
We were talking about all the stuff we still want to squeeze in on this trip, and we'd better get on it! This month is whizzing by!
